The Recovery College is a training and resource centre which develops and delivers education and tools to support wellbeing and the self-management of mental health difficulties. We work with you either to support you in your recovery or to help you support someone for whom you care.
Our wide range of courses are open to those using the Trust’s mental health services, staff, carers, families and supporters. They are also available to local authorities and partner organisations.
Courses are co-produced and delivered by a member of Trust staff and at least one peer trainer, recognising the equal value of professional training and lived experience and expertise.
The college works to an educational rather than a clinical model. We follow the guiding principles for recovery colleges as defined by Implementing Recovery through Organisational Change (ImROC).
Our free training programme draws on the experiences and skills of people who’ve used mental health services and those who support them.
The college follows an educational model that seeks to give people the tools and skills to become architects of their own recovery, or to support someone else with their recovery journey.
The college conveys messages of hope, empowerment, possibility and aspiration. We celebrate diversity and recognise the strengths and successes of our students.
We offer a wide range of courses that are designed to give people a better understanding of mental health issues and to develop their life skills.
Courses vary from one-off workshops to 10 session programmes. They are co-produced and co-delivered. This means that groups of service users, carers and staff work together to develop the courses. They’re delivered by a practitioner trainer and a peer trainer as we recognise the expertise of lived experience equally with that of professional training.
