About the
'Telling Your Story' Course
Crafting Your Narrative
Everyone possesses a unique and powerful narrative. From grand tales to fleeting moments, there’s always something valuable to be gleaned from our experiences. Narratives are a cornerstone of civilisation, aiding in comprehending our own journeys and empathising with others.
This course is designed to assist you in reflecting on your personal experiences to craft a compelling real-life narrative. The structured story you develop can later be transformed into a digital narrative, a written or illustrated piece, or even prepared for a live presentation. Your narrative might centre around your ‘Recovery Story’, or any other subject that you feel is crucial to share.
The course delves into the significance and history of storytelling, particularly focusing on Recovery narratives. It guides you through the process of preparing, shaping, enlivening, and refining your story. Additionally, the course includes a section on aiding others in developing their narratives.
While sharing your experiences with others is not obligatory, you may find the course more enriching if you are at a point in your recovery journey where discussing your experiences feels comfortable.
This course also serves as a foundation for the subsequent ‘Digital Storytelling’ course, which equips you with practical digital skills to digitally share your narrative and enhances your understanding of Storytelling in Health.
