About the
'What is ‘Recovery’?' Course

This course, the first in the ‘Recovery’ series, is designed to enhance your understanding of what ‘Recovery’ entails. It aims to address and challenge any preconceptions you may hold about the concept. The course is suitable for a wide audience, including students, carers, staff, volunteers, partners, and the general public, serving as an introduction to the topic of ‘Recovery’.

Throughout the course, you’ll learn to define and recognise Recovery, gaining insights into its fundamental principles. This includes an exploration of the CHIME Framework and Recovery Journeys, approached with a critical perspective.

The course material is derived from a comprehensive, co-produced document titled ‘What do we mean when we talk about Recovery?’. This practical toolkit is a direct outcome of collaborative discussions that shaped the Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust’s new ‘Recovery Strategic Framework 2021-26’. This framework is a five-year plan detailing the Trust’s approach to Recovery.

As the initial course in a series of three on Recovery, it is strongly recommended that you complete this course before engaging with the subsequent courses, named ‘What is ‘Coproduction?’ and ‘How can we best support Recovery?’
