ADHD NICE Guidelines:
Guideline on ADHD by NICE
Purpose: The ADHD NICE guidelines address the recognition, diagnosis, and management of ADHD in children, young people, and adults. The primary objective is to enhance the recognition and diagnosis process and elevate the quality of care and support for individuals with ADHD.
Update (September 2019): A modification was made to the recommendation concerning the assessment for individuals commencing ADHD medication. It was indicated that an ECG (electrocardiogram) is not mandatory before initiating stimulants, atomoxetine, or guanfacine, provided the cardiovascular history and examination are standard, and the individual is not on medication that poses an augmented cardiovascular risk. Current Status (December 2021): As of December 2021, no new evidence has been discovered that would necessitate changes to the recommendations. Further details can be found in the surveillance decision.
