SSAFA:
About SSAFA
SSAFA, a longstanding supporter of the Armed Forces community, offers comprehensive aid to both serving and retired personnel, including those who’ve completed National Service. Recognising the unique challenges of service life, SSAFA extends its support to families, addressing issues like low income, physical injuries, and mental health conditions such as depression and PTSD. Their recent focus is on enhancing services for younger veterans, ensuring they receive the specialised assistance they need.
Their approach is hands-on, tackling problems like addiction, relationship issues, debt, homelessness, and mental health struggles that often emerge post-service. SSAFA’s commitment is to help these brave individuals rebuild their lives after their military service.
What sets SSAFA apart is their 130-year legacy of supporting the Armed Forces. They adapt their services to meet the evolving needs of serving members and veterans, ensuring tailored support. Working collaboratively with other military charities and organisations, SSAFA ensures comprehensive care for those in need.
Their reach is both national and global, with a network of volunteers across the UK and in 11 countries, coordinated from their London office and regional teams. Funding for their vital work comes from benevolent funds, public donations, and their Health and Social Care department, contracted by the Ministry of Defence to support serving personnel and their families.
